It takes strength to surrender, to lean into the crumbling façade instead of working so hard to keep it standing. It’s in facing the tender places of hurt and grief when stripped bare that new foundations can be built; ones steeped in the mire that are darkly stank, but nurture growth. Here is where beauty lies – in the shadows, the imperfection, the uncertainty. Folding into self means reclaiming all the scattered pieces to form something new; a new version of selfhood more likely to evolve than to break.
